The word Canada is not new for us because we all know it is the second largest country in the world. Besides this, the people of Canada are famous for their loving and caring nature. Canada is present in North America. The country has ten provinces and three territories. Canada cover 3.85 million square miles land area. Let’s take a look at some fun facts about Canada that you probably don’t know.

Maple Syrup

Canada is the leading producer of maple syrup. Canada produce approximately 77 percent of maple syrup. Quebec, Canada produce more than half of quantity of maple syrup. Surprisingly, it’s not a staple in all parts of the country. The reason is most of the part of country don’t support maple trees.

Polar Bears

We all love bears and luckily Canada has about 60 percent of polar bear population. Polar bears are such a threat in Churchill, Canada, that people often leave their cars unlocked. So that in case of attack from polar bear a person can easily escape.

Moreover, in Nunavut, Canada, the number plate for motorcycles, snowmobiles and cars are in the shape of polar bear.

Calgary Canada

Alberta is the famous Canadian province. Calgary is located in Alberta. This province is popular destination for immigrants. Furthermore, it is the center of Canada’s oil industry. Calgary’s nickname is “Cowtown“.

Canada’s Desert

Canada has only one desert. This desert is located in South Okanagan Valley Region. This desert is named as Okanagan desert. It is known as the hottest place in Canada. Okanagan is semi-arid area that is home to many plant and animal species.

The number of lakes in Canada is larger than any other country on earth. Canada’s largest lake cover an area of 19,466 square miles. This lake is Great Bear Lake. There are 31,752 lakes in Canada.

The Country has 7% of the worlds renewable fresh water resources.

Fun Facts About Canada Cuisine

Canadians eat more Pasta than any other polity. The cuisine varies  depending on the regions of the nation. About 10% of Canadians are vegan. Poutine, a dish of cheese and fries with gravy, is one of the most famous foods. It was originated in rural Quebec. Furthermore, Canada’s popular dishes are Nova Scotian Donair, Ketchup and chips along with Montreal bagels.

Similarly, Butter tart, Canola Oil, Instant mashed potato, Peanut butter etc are some incredible foods that were invented in Canada.

Motto of Canada

As French is widely spoken in Canada so motto of the country is “A Mari Usque Ad Mare”. In English its meaning is from sea to sea. Government use this motto as mark of authority.

Apology Act

Canadians are very friendly and because of this reason they apologize a lot. Consequently there was an Apology act passed in Ontario, in 2009. According to this act, apologies were made inadmissible in court.

Doughnut Shops in Canada

Canadians are doughnut lovers. There are more doughnut shop in Canada than any other country in the world. Canadians celebrate National Doughnut Day on first Friday of June each year.

Canadian identity “eh”

Canadians use eh! so much that it is listed in their dictionary as a consistent word. It has become reflection of Canadian identity because it denotes politeness.
