Theories Show Why Number 13 is Unlucky

The first theory that proved number 13 is unlucky is The Last Supper. Where 13 people were present at the meal along with Jesus Christ. The 13th person at the meal was Judas who betrayed Jesus.

Another theory of why number 13 is considered unlucky goes back to the era when murderers were hanged in front of the public. The noose used to hang people had 13 wraps above the loop of rope. To reach the gallows platform the criminal had to gild 13 step staircase which was the perfect height to break the neck.

People who have read history know there were twelve gods at the time of Alexander the Great. Alexander wanted to become the 13th god. For this purpose he even built a statue of him. But as soon as the statue was built Alexander died. This incident made people believe that the 13th figure is unfortunate.

Many popular figures in history have a total 13 letters in their names. We don’t know whether it was just a coincidence or the number 13 is unlucky.
