1# Grenada Abortion Law

Well, there is no confirmation that female Genital Mutilation is allowed in Grenada. According to Criminal Code CAP. 72 A, if someone intentionally causes miscarriage or abortion, he will be liable to ten years of imprisonment. But still there is government policy exists to allow exceptions to save women mental and physical health.

Salt beef is specialty of Grenada cuisine. A special pot called karhee or curry pot is famous for cooking food. Famous street food includes dal puri, aloo pie, doubles mostly wrapped in goat curry. Fish cakes are also well liked.

Sweet treats including guava cheese, tamarind balls, rum, raisin ice cream, kurma, barfi are favoured.

There is a “Jumpers Hill” in Grenada. The earliest inhabitants of Grenada were chased by the French. French wanted to dominate the island. The Caribs were trying to escape from the French. Finally, they reached the hill and had no option but to jump. Ultimately, they jumped off the hill. Hence named as Jumpers hill.

8# Leatherback turtles

Another interesting Grenada fact, is variety of turtles found there. Grenada is host to four turtle species including Leatherback turtles. Levara beach is the only beach in Grenada where Leatherback turtles arrive, lay eggs and return back to the Atlantic ocean from March/April until June/July every year. Unfortunately, Leatherback turtles are included in endangered species and need to be saved.

9# Origin of Name

The word Grenada is a Spanish word, which means ‘pomegranate’. In french, the city is named as “La Grenade“.  Still the origin of the name “Grenada” is obscure.

10# Bottomless Lake

Grand Etang, is a lake in Grenada which is said to be a bottomless lake because no body is able to find its depth with SONAR. The lake was formed over a dormant volcano and it has become popular tourist attraction.
